A Railroad Crossing sign in front of an abandoned railroad.

Autumnal Pictures

I took a few minutes to take some pictures around Route 24 in Maine, USA. I wanted to try and capture a few images of the fall color. (I also completed my 52Frames assignment as well). While looking for some color, I came across the RailRoad Crossing signs. These caught my eye, so they were included as well. I rather like the Railroad Crossing sign with the broken light and the abandoned railroad in the background.

All images were processed in darktable. I mostly used the Agx module.

    FLCC Vaughan Woods

The First Light Camera Club – FLCC had a field trip recently to Vaughan Woods in Hallowell, Maine. The trail is really nice. There is a pond which feeds a stream. There is controlled water coming through the retaining wall, a couple of small waterfalls (probably more accurate “rapids”?), and a stone bridge.

I decided to mostly use a 50mm lens to gain some experience with that lens.

I took some photos from really close to the water, but I missed the focus point on most of those. I should’ve swung the screen on the camera out to see better.

I also experimented with utilizing foreground in several pictures. Most of these didn’t “make the cut”, but I found it worth experimenting.
